JANIS & TRUDIE PRESENT PETITION TO SARAH BROWN

Janis Sharp, mother of Gary McKinnon, accompanied by Trudie Styler, actress, producer and married to Sting, presented the petition sponsored by the National Autistic Society demanding that Aspergers sufferer Gary be kept in the UK. She and Trudie presented the petition to Sarah Brown, wife of Gordon Brown the Prime Minister, at No 10 Downing Street. After which Janis and Trudie were invited in for tea and a discussion with Sarah about Gary's case.

Speaking later about the encounter Janis said 'I told her what it does to you, I told her it was with us every second, a seven-year sentence of fear, and my eyes filled and hers did too.

She is an intelligent and very compassionate person who genuinely cares about people. I think it was incredibly brave of her to meet us. To be invited in was unexpected and very heartening.'
